Family, friends, and community members are mourning the tragic loss of Mark Sweany, 54, and Michelle Sweany, 52, of Massillon, Ohio, who were killed in a motorcycle crash in Holmes County on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 226 and County Road 51. Authorities reported that Mark was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound on SR 226, while Michelle was riding as a passenger.
Investigators said a Chrysler Town & Country traveling southbound on County Road 149 entered the intersection after allegedly failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign. The vehicle collided with the motorcycle, forcing it off the roadway and into a nearby yard.
The impact caused the motorcycle to roll onto its left side, ejecting both riders. Mark Sweany suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Michelle Sweany was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Chrysler and a juvenile passenger in the vehicle were not injured during the incident.
